About My Jewelry
The jewelry I make is art. Some pieces might take a few months to complete and some might pour out like water from a pitcher. Some ideas or feelings are difficult to express and involve many sketches and paper mock-ups. While other ideas and feelings are more playful and easy and my mind and hands flow in the making.
One is not better or more important than the other. They both come from the same place. That “place” is my heart and soul place that is connected to God, to you, and to all things in this universe.
Art gives form to the imagination, for the creator, the voyeur and in the case of jewelry, the wearer. My imagination is intrigued by the process of fusing and forming an idea into a piece of wearable art. I use a variety of Enamels and techniques to explore and express an idea in the physical.
My greatest teacher and inspiration comes from the natural world.
I love that my work is worn. It goes out into the world and adds beauty and interest to the person who wears it.
And the wearer becomes the Gallery for my art.
- I use recycled metals in all my work. Art and the Natural World are my passion. To reduce my impact on the environment, all metals purchased to create my/your jewelry comes from 100% recycled metals. I carefully collect all scraps from the jewelry-making process to be recycled again.
- Every piece of jewelry is designed and handmade by me in my Anderson, SC studio.
- I use enamel, copper, silver and gold to explore line, texture, layers, and depth in a single expression of adornment.
- My inspiration comes from our relationships to the world: human, nature, beliefs, spirit, traditions, and systems. Art represents my journey into a deep exploration of the convergence of spirit and nature.
About Me
I would rather be outside than in. I love being in the woods, kayaking or piddling in the yard. I start my day with journal writing, a morning practice of yoga and meditation and then I go outside, putting my hands on the trees and soaking in the mystery of God and the Universe. I love nature. The trees in my front yard are my greatest teachers and source of inspiration.
If nature is my inspiration, then art is the process by which I work through ideas and feelings. Art gives me the opportunity to explore ideas on a deeper level. In the process of making, I create a physical piece that is hopefully inspiring and worn.
My family, my friends, nature and art are my passions.
I live in Upstate, SC and I have a beautiful studio surrounded by these “teacher trees” and on most days my windows are wide open.
